Belgrade Youth Office was opened on 25 May 2009, thereby concluding a process which commenced with the adoption of the National Youth Strategy.

The Youth Office is part of the City Administration and has the status of a special organisational unit responsible, for creating and implementing youth policies at Belgrade city level.

This is the first time there has been a special unit of the city administration to deal with youth policy, which is based on a model borrowed from EU and regional countries. Currently we are in the process of researching problems facing young people at Belgrade city level, following which, we will draw up a local youth action plan to be put before Belgrade City Council for adoption. This process is important as it enables us, through one strategic document, to identify the problems facing young people and to systematically track their solution.

The Office is run by a young team who together with volunteers have a coeval approach to problems. We function as an umbrella organisation in relation to municipal ones and offer them assistance through financing their local projects. we have daily communication with young people whether they are looking for information or seeking support for a project. In doing so we also represent a link between young people and the city administration, which was one of our objectives when forming the Office.

We believe that identifying and solving the problems of young people in our society is a stepping stone for society's progression and development.
